HB 290 was made into law on March 25, 2009, this bill prohibits a person from using a handheld wireless communication device for text messaging or electronic mail communication while operating a moving motor vehicle on a highway in this state.
Basically, you can't drive and text at the same time. Also if you accidentially kill someone in a car accident due to driving while texting, it's considered a criminal homicide.

the session....
The session has such an interesting dynamic. Really it's just one big game. It's all about who you know and how good your relationship is with them. The session is all about hurrying up and then you wait and wait and wait.
I have waited for hours upon hours for bills to come out of Rules and it just sat there, in fact there are still about 12 bills sitting in rules that I am following.
Bills have been circled for days and with the stroke of magic it suddenly has appeared on the floor and voted on within minutes.
I have seen bills discussed for over an hour.
I have seen leadership bills that have failed, because it truly is one big game. And within a couple of hours, this same bill has come back to life and passed the floor almost unanimously.
I have seen members of both parties fight for what they believe is right.
I have seen lobbyists give their all and their bills have failed. I have seen lobbyists give their all and their bills have passed.
I have witnessed love for associations.
I have seen hard work.
I have seen back-door negotiations.
I have met incredible people that are truly making a difference, even though it may be small.
I have seen naivety.
I have seen fights between legislators.
I have seen tears in caucuses by men who rarely cry.
I have witnessed miracles.
I have been astonished by legislators.
I have seen gratitude for a 9% budget cut.
I have made great friends.
I have loved every minute.
My eyes are tired.
I have learned. And will keep learning.
I have found my passion for what I believe truly matters.
I am thankful for my job and all those who are involved.
The session is over.

Christ Says:
Give me you all...I
don't want so much of your time,
or so much of your money,
or so much of your work.
I want you.
I have not come to torment your
natural self, but to kill it.
So half measures are any good.
I don't want you to cut off
a branch here and a branch there;
I want the tree down.
I don't want to drill the tooth, or crown it,
or stop it. I want it out.
Hand over your whole natural self,
all the desires, the ones you think are innocent,
as well as the ones you think are wicked.
You give me the whole outfit, and I will give you
a new self. In fact, I will you give you myself,
and my will shall become your will.
-C.S. Lewis

Is anyone worried about this besides me?
1. Jobless rate jumped 8.1 percent, 651,000 jobs are lost. This is the highest rate since 1983.
2. Nigel Gault, economist at IHS Global Insight, stated: "There is no light at the end of the tunnel with these numbers. Job losses were everywhere and there's no hope for a turnaround any time soon."
3. Since the recession began in Dec. 2007, the economy has lost 4.4 million jobs, more than half of which occurred in the past four months.
4. The number of people forced to work part time for "economic reasons" rose by a sharp 787,000 to 8.6 million.
5. The average work week is only 33.3 hours.
6. Construction companies eliminated 104,000 jobs. Factories 168,000 jobs. Retailers cut almost 40,000 jobs. Professional and business services got rid of 180,000. Financial companies reduced payrolls by 44,000. Leisure and hospitality firms chopped 33,000 positions.
7. The unemployment rate is expected to hit 9% this year. Did you know that to be in a depression, unemployment needs to hit 15%? We are not too far away.
8. Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke told Congress earlier this week that recent economic barometers "show little sign of improvement" and suggest that "labor market conditions may have worsened further in recent weeks."
